New Jerseyans are deeply concerned about the actions President Trump and Elon Musk are taking to unlawfully freeze federal funding and dismantle vital government agencies that provide resources that Americans depend on every day. I’ve been hearing from you about your fears surrounding these measures and want to reassure you that I’m fighting back.
Protecting Taxpayer Data from Elon Musk
There’s no reason why Elon Musk should have access to the personal data of private U.S. citizens. That’s why I cosponsored the Taxpayer Data Protection Act to limit access to this important data to people with specific experiences, security clearances, and other qualifications, which Musk and his team currently lack. We must prevent Elon Musk from accessing sensitive data from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, including Social Security and Medicare payment systems.

Last week, I spoke on the House floor alongside my Labor Caucus colleagues to express my support for our federal workers and their union contracts. Federal employees keep our food safe to eat, our water safe to drink, and our air safe to breathe. They provide essential services Americans rely on every day—yet Trump and Musk are making it harder for them to do their jobs, revoking their union contracts, and putting procedures in place to make civil servants easier to fire. To all civil servants, our message is this: America needs you, and we have your back.
