For over a week now, the Trump-Elon administration has taken excessive measures to shut down USAID, the nation’s top humanitarian agency.

President Trump and Elon Musk want you to believe they’re tackling fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars; all the while, they’ve unilaterally seized trillions in Treasury payments for Social Security and Medicare with NO OVERSIGHT.

Elon isn’t finding waste; he’s finding spending he doesn’t agree with and breaking the law to do so.

John, we’re doing everything we can to put a stop to this illegal takeover. For now, I just need to know I can count on your support. Will you add your name to support our efforts to stop Elon’s takeover of USAID and the federal government?

USAID may be the first target, but Trump has already signaled that he plans to go after the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, the NOAA, the FDA, the NIH, J6 prosecutors, and countless others. Immigrants, refugees, and members of the LGBTQ community are also being targeted in the Trump administration’s authoritarian attempt to upend our democracy.

Let me be clear: The Trump administration chooses to stoke chaos and to go after critical infrastructure and the most marginalized groups in the country to disguise the fact that they have no real plan to meaningfully address the economic issues harming millions of Americans.

This unconstitutional power grab threatens our democracy and the lives of countless lives here and abroad, but I’m committed to defending it and standing up for Marylanders and Americans across the country.
