Lawsuits Begin Over Trudeau’s “Assault Weapon” Ban

As we informed our readers earlier, Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime
Minister, took advantage of the suspension of Parliament to declare a
ban on what he described as “military grade assault weapons.” The
implementing regulations (“Orders in Council”) apply to over 1,500
models and “variants” of guns that have been used for decades for
lawful hunting, competitive shooting, and other recreational uses.

Fact Checkers, Editorialists Resort to Fake News to Push Anti-Gun
Propaganda

As we saw last week with Twitter presuming to fact-check an opinion
expressed by President Trump, the legacy media – now in
collaboration with tech platforms that constitute the modern public
square – still pathetically cling to the idea that they are
perceived as a source of “truth” by America at large. Polls,
however, show that a majority of Americans do not trust the media to
report the news accurately.

California and COVID-19: Gun Control Proposals are Essential, Full
Civic Participation is Not

COVID-19 hasn't curtailed the California Legislature's never-ending
quest for gun control. The same cannot be said for efforts to maintain
good governance in the Golden State. Through restrictions on access to
the state capitol and disorganized attempts at remote hearings,
Californians have had their opportunity to be heard during the
legislative process diminished by the pandemic.

Double Counting in Washington State
<[link removed]>
Public health officials in Washington state are counting people who
were fatally injured with a firearm in the tally of COVID-19-related
deaths. This decision – and it appears to have been made consciously
– reinforces what we already know about public health officials.
