Democrats have held the Senate floor since yesterday against Donald Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.

I just left the Senate floor myself, and in a moment I’m going to ask you to join me in opposing her nomination. Please, let me explain why this is so important:

It’s my job, as a United States Senator, to determine whether a president’s nominee has what it takes. The Director of National Intelligence is a position of tremendous responsibility, and it requires impeccable judgement.

Tulsi Gabbard does not meet the standard, so I am voting against her.

But this nomination is part of a broader pattern of activity from Elon Musk and the Trump Administration. They are attempting to gut critical government agencies — including our national security agencies — of the career civil servants who put our nation first and keep our people safe. In their place, they are installing loyalists who will put President Trump first and the people of this nation last.

I am taking whatever action I can, as a United States Senator, to counter President Trump, Elon Musk, and the Trump Administration’s assault on our institutions.

But the truth is, we need the public behind us. We need you to continue speaking out and spreading the word. While President Trump and his allies hold power in Washington, it’s up to us to show them that the American people are not on board.
