How are you, John? My name is Steve Pierson, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Blue Wave California.

Blue Wave California is a new organization that launched last year in response to a tough reality: Because California leans blue at the national level, we are often overlooked by too many Democrats.

The truth is, this state is ground-zero for so much of the progressive momentum we want to see in our country. The road for control of the U.S. House of Representatives runs through California, and in 2024 our organization helped flip three seats from red to blue in our state.

Today, the stakes have never been higher. That’s why I am so fired up to be onboard!

A little about me: I’m a grassroots organizer who never planned to enter the political fray, but when Donald Trump was elected in 2016, I knew I had to get into action. I turned my life upside down, jumped headfirst into organizing communities and fighting to win back Democratic control of the U.S. House in 2018, and I never looked back.

We are at a tenuous and dangerous moment for our Democracy. In just the last few weeks, we have watched Trump ambush our ally Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office, arrest protestors for exercising their free speech, and start the dumbest trade war in history that has sent worldwide markets tumbling.

Despite all this, I am hopeful because I have seen what we can do when we take action together. I wouldn’t be doing this work if I didn’t believe we could make a difference.

It’s going to be tough. Oligarchs like Elon Musk are pouring millions into these races to try and hold on to power. That’s why the work we are doing together at Blue Wave California must start now.
