Welcomed French Ambassador to San Antonio

This week, I hosted Laurent Bili, the French Ambassador to the United States, in San Antonio.

Ambassador Bili is the most senior French government official ever to visit the Alamo City.

From touring an iconic monument of Texas history—the Alamo—to discussing San Antonio's role as Cyber City USA, we showcased how our region is a hub for culture, innovation, and growth, not only in our great state of Texas, but across the world.

France is a top trading partner and a long-standing, loyal ally. I look forward to continuing to partner on our nations' shared priorities.

Protecting Texas Agriculture

This week, I led 43 of my colleagues in urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture to protect our agricultural supply chains.

In a bipartisan letter, we urged USDA to double down on efforts to eradicate and contain the New World screwworma parasite that poses a critical threat to our nation’s livestock, farming, and wildlife industries. Without guardrails in place, an outbreak could inflict detrimental losses on the national economy.

The Texas Farm Bureau and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association have been monitoring this issue closely, and I look forward to continuing our partnership to protect the livelihoods of our farmers and ranchers.
