Since Inauguration Day, the ACLU has filed 16 lawsuits to stop the Trump administration's attacks on the immigrant community, the LGBTQ community, and more. Here are just a few examples of the ways we're fighting back:

* We just joined our New York affiliate, the Center for Constitutional Rights, CLEAR, and attorney Amy Greer in suing after ICE detained Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful permanent resident and recent graduate of Columbia University, and threatened to revoke his green card and deport him in direct retaliation for his advocacy in support of Palestinian rights. This is a watershed moment for the right to speak truth to power and a massive violation of the First Amendment.

* Within two hours of Trump taking action to end birthright citizenship and tear families apart, we sued to stop him.

* Just two days later, we sued to stop Trump's efforts to fast-track deportations without a fair legal process.

* We filed a suit to defend gender-affirming care for transgender youth, and we've taken action to defend the right of individuals to have passports that reflect their gender identity.

* And we're not just filing lawsuits. Since Inauguration Day, we've mobilized hundreds of thousands of supporters to contact their members of Congress in defense of civil rights and organized Know Your Rights trainings, community education events, and more.

We'll continue to show up to defend our civil rights wherever they are challenged. But we can't do any of these things without your support.
