Change Your Scenery, Change Your Life
In a world where the news cycle feels relentless, time in nature offers a powerful reset—restoring clarity, easing stress, and reminding us of what truly matters. Find connection and transformation in nature on one of our many conservation-focused outdoor adventures.
Select from an array of hiking adventures–including backpack, base camp, lodge, and more–plus water journeys, volunteer vacations, international adventures, and loads of experiences in between. We also have trips specifically designed for teens, beginners, seniors, and women, as well as a variety of trips for younger adults, which are subsidized to make joining these experiences more affordable than ever. Don’t miss your chance to explore the collection while there’s still plenty of space available!

John Plander started leading outings with his Local Chapter in 1999. In 2017, he took the leap and became a National Outings trip leader and he hasn’t looked back. John has gone on to become one of our most prolific volunteer leaders, with over 80 trips under his belt.
One of John’s favorite destinations is Bear Lakes Basin in x. He appreciates the austere, above-treeline landscape, the isolation, and lack of crowds. In fact, going to locations such as Bear Lakes Basin is one of John’s favorite things about Sierra Club Outings, “Other outfitters do the same itinerary over and over. Sierra Club has a ton of variety.”
What is the most gratifying part of being a leader, according to John? Seeing participants who start out feeling nervous about the physical demands ultimately succeed and even exceed their own expectations.
Thank you, John, for your service with Sierra Club Outings!
Join John on an upcoming trip!
