This month is Women's History Month, a time to honor the incredible contributions and impact of women around the world. This month also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles women face in securing their social, economic, and political freedom.
Right now in the U.S., women’s rights are under attack by the Trump Administration. Since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, we’ve seen horrific consequences: nearly 1 in 3 women are now without legal access to abortion, and Republican-controlled states continue to push for even more drastic restrictions on reproductive health care.
This isn’t just a setback, John, it is the start of a dangerous rollback of rights that will directly impact millions of women – and the chaos doesn’t stop there.
The Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act is one of the many legislations being pushed with the goal of disenfranchising millions of women, elderly Americans, and naturalized citizens. This bill would impose unnecessary barriers to voter registration, particularly affecting women who’ve changed their names after marriage, in a direct attack on their right to vote.1
John, in the face of these and many other attacks, our Squad is not backing down. Alexandria, Ayanna, Ilhan, and Rashida are working to amplify critical legislation that pushes back against the erosion of women’s rights, combats harmful misinformation about reproductive health, and advocates for policies that protect and expand women’s access to health care, justice, and equality.
Our Squad is fighting for a future where women can make decisions about their bodies, their health, and their futures without fear of government overreach or political interference. But they can’t do this alone.
