I started writing this book in 2019, because I saw a period of immense change coming. At the time, I thought the change would be political. I thought it would be centered around the strong anti-Trump forces on the radical Democratic Left and in the national media as they continued to attack President Trump with phony investigations and made-up impeachment charges.
Then, in early 2020, I watched as COVID-19 morphed from being a potential problem in China into a world pandemic which has killed hundreds of thousands of people and crippled economies all over the world. As you can imagine, this became a large part of the book as well.
Now, with the horrific killing of George Floyd by police in Minnesota, the hundreds of legal peaceful protests across the country, and the chaos and violence committed by opportunistic radical left-wing groups taking advantage of legitimate anger, I am more convinced than ever that we are on the brink of a tremendously important turning point for America. While these latest tragic events have played out since the book has gone to print, the underlying themes are there.
Americans have an important choice to make in 2020. Despite more than three years of extraordinary growth – producing historic low unemployment rates, rising incomes, and stunning stock market growth – the American economy has been shaken by the public health efforts to contain the coronavirus. Americans’ confidence in our country has been further shaken by this outrageous killing – and the outrageous response by the most radical forces in our society.
This book puts this kaleidoscope of change into context and outlines the choices Americans face in what may be the most decisive election of our lifetimes. No presidential contest since 1860 has presented the American people with a decision more definitive than the 2020 election offers. It is the radical Democratic Left vs President Trump.
