EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS

Representative Garcia had the privilege of meeting and engaging in meaningful conversation with students from the Center for Tomorrow's Leaders (CTL) a movement of young, world-class leaders making a difference in Hawai'i.

Since 2003, CTL has empowered over 2,400 young leaders through their programs, promoting a brighter future for the islands. It was inspiring to witness the passion and vision of these future change-makers. Mahalo to everyone who has contributed to their journey!
CIVIL BEAT LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY DAY AT THE CAPITOL

Representative Shimizu welcomed visitors from the Developmental Disability Day Event. He engaged in meaningful discussions about inclusivity and support for individuals with disabilities. He listened to their experiences and concerns, reaffirming his commitment to advocating for resources and opportunities that empower all members of the community. Their visit highlighted the importance of collaboration in building a more accessible and supportive society.
TOURISM DAY AT THE CAPITOL
Representative Muraoka attended Tourism Day at the Capitol, where the importance of Hawai‘i’s visitor industry was highlighted through cultural displays, interactive exhibits, and informational booths. He joined industry leaders, students, and community members to discuss sustainable tourism and its impact on our local economy. It was a valuable opportunity to engage with stakeholders and support a balanced approach to tourism in our state.
FAITH AND EXCELLENCE AT HAWAIIAN MISSION ACADEMY

Representative Garcia was honored to meet and host the students and instructors of Hawaiian Mission Academy Windward Campus. Founded on Christian principles, the academy is dedicated to promoting both academic excellence and spiritual growth.

Through the collaboration of students, teachers and parents, the school strives to equip students with the knowledge and values needed to serve their communities with a purpose guided by faith. Representative Garcia appreciates HMA Windward’s commitment to shaping future leaders grounded in strong moral and educational foundations.
WE GROW HAWAII STUDENT SUMMIT
It was a pleasure for Representative Matsumoto to speak with the students at the “We Grow Hawaii: A Youth Food Summit” and was truly inspired by their passion for creating a more just and sustainable food system. Led by the Hawaii Youth Food Council, these young leaders are driving real change through education, advocacy, and legislative engagement. She is excited to see the future they are growing for Hawaii!
MILILANI UKA READ ACROSS AMERICA
Mililani Uka Read Across America was a wonderful celebration of literacy and the joy of reading. Representative Matsumoto loved seeing students excited about books and storytelling. She is grateful to be part of an event that inspires a lifelong love of learning!
19TH ANNUAL MASAYUKI TOKIOKA EXCELLENCE IN SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AWARD
Albert Hetrick, a dedicated educator and leader, was presented a certificate from Representative Shimizu. Hetrick was nominated for the 19th annual Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award, and is the Principal at Aliamanu Middle School. He was recognized for fostering an enriching learning environment for over two decades.
HONORED TO SUPPORT THE EMILIO VELCI SHARE ALOHA PROJECT

Representative Garcia was deeply humbled to be invited to attend the Emilio Velci Share Aloha Project's An Evening of Aloha. Dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of opioids and counterfeit drugs, the project’s mission is to educate and protect communities, especially youth, from the devastating impact of fentanyl.

Representative Garcia appreciates the organization’s efforts in encouraging education, advocacy and support for future leaders and student-athletes. Recognizing the importance of spreading awareness, Representative Garcia remains committed to supporting initiatives that help prevent fentanyl-related tragedies and save lives.
MILILANI IKE BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL
It was an honor for Representative Matsumoto to present a certificate to Ike Elementary in recognition of their Blue Ribbon School achievement. This prestigious award reflects the dedication of students, educators, and the entire school community. Congratulations to Ike Elementary on this well-deserved recognition!
OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP SALT LAKE COMMUNITY CLEANUP & GENKI BALL MAKING
This past Saturday, Representative Shimizu joined Operation Clean Sweep and volunteers at the Salt Lake community cleanup. He participated in making Genki Balls that will be used later in the month. Genki Balls are mud balls that contain billions of Effective Microorganisms, which sink to the bottom of the canal to digest the sludge and act as a “probiotic” for the environment.
FROM THE LOKO IʻA TO THE CLASSROOM

On March 10, 2025, Representative Reyes Oda visited Ilima Intermediate School for their Showcase of Work. 7th grade students were tasked to create a interdisciplinary (IDU) project where they created their own scale models of the Loko Iʻa (fishpond) and the Kai (ocean) retaining wall without using cement or rebar. Combining traditional Hawaiian knowledge with Western engineering allowed the students to be successful in executing their ideas.

TALK STORY FRIDAY'S
Representative Muraoka held his very first Talk Story Friday, bringing together nearly 100 residents for a night of conversation, connection, and community. It was a great opportunity to hear directly from constituents, share updates, and discuss important issues facing the district.

MOANALUA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S TEACHER RECEIVES NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION
Representative Shimizu presented a certificate to Jihan Yuen in recognition of her achieving National Board Certification as part of the Class of 2025. A distinguished educator at Moanalua Elementary School, Jihan exemplifies excellence in teaching and a steadfast commitment to professional growth. Her dedication to student success continues to inspire both her peers and the community.
19TH ANNUAL MASAYUKI TOKIOKA EXCELLENCE IN SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AWARD
Representative Matsumoto had the honor of attending the 19th Annual Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award nominee celebration, where they recognized Hawaii's top public school principals. She was proud to see Troy Tamura of Mililani Waena Elementary, from my district, being honored for his outstanding leadership. A big mahalo to the Island Insurance Foundation for hosting this meaningful event.
HONORING VICTOR FLINT
Representative Muraoka honored Victor Flint for his many years of dedicated service and significant contributions to the improvement of Kolekole Pass. His efforts have greatly benefited the community, and this recognition highlights his hard work and commitment to the region.
BREAKING GROUND AND MAKING HISTORY

Representative Reyes Oda attended the James Campbell High School groundbreaking on their new athletics facility that will include a weight room, press box, stadium lights, and bleachers to accommodate over 3,000. This facility will enhance the talent of our student-athletes and become a focal point of our community. Go Sabers!
PARADE OF BANDS
Representative Shimizu attended the South Parade of Bands at the Aiea High School Gymnasium, celebrating the talents of young musicians from various schools. The event featured outstanding performances from the Aliamanu Middle School Band, Radford High School Band, Moanalua Middle School Symphonic Band, Moanalua High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Aiea Intermediate School Band, and Aiea High School Band. He is pictured with Moanalua High School’s principal, Robin Martin.
LIONS CLUB BREAKFAST

Representative Matsumoto was was proud to support the annual Lions Club Breakfast and give back to her community. Proceeds from this event will help fund important school programs in her district. Mahalo to the Lions Club for their dedication to education and service!
LEGISLATIVE UPDATES AT THE OAHU LEAGUE OF REPUBLICAN WOMAN LUNCHEON

Representative Garcia recently attended the March Oahu League of Republican Women's luncheon, where he delivered a mid-session legislative update.

He covered important updates on the progress of key legislative initiatives, discussed challenges and engaged with the members on the efforts being made to protect and strengthen the values that matter most to our conservative movement.

Representative Garcia remains committed to advancing conservative principles in the legislature and working to serve the people of Hawaii with Aloha and dedication.

It was an inspiring event where community leaders came together to discuss how they can collaborate to better serve and uplift the local community.
