The Week in Review
Happy Saturday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
Funding President Trump’s America First Priorities
This week, the House and Senate passed a President Trump-approved bill to fund the federal government. Government funding was set to expire today, but President Trump advocated for this Continuing Resolution (CR) to pass, allowing his Administration to continue delivering on its promises to the American people.
I have never voted for a CR, but I voted for the CR that was on the Floor this week. President Trump has proven that the Executive Branch is the only branch of government willing to bend down our nation’s spending curve. His Administration has done more to fight federal spending in 50 days than Congress has done in the last 50 years, despite my best efforts. This CR will provide the President the funding he needs to carry out the mandate delivered by American voters, including the necessary funding to secure the southern border.

Demanding an FBI Investigation into ActBlue
I sent a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel requesting an investigation into ActBlue, the main fundraising platform of the Democrat Party. In 2024, banks across the country reported hundreds of suspicious transactions with ActBlue, but the previous Administration stonewalled congressional efforts to investigate the reports further. There are also allegations of foreign donations originating in China, Russia, Iran, and Venezuela.
The allegations against ActBlue are alarming and warrant a thorough investigation by the FBI.
If the allegations against ActBlue are proven true, the fundraising group has undermined the integrity of our elections for years, and justice must be delivered swiftly. Americans’ faith in our electoral system is crucial to our Republic, and Congress must ensure that we protect the security of our elections.
I’m grateful to Director Patel for his work to restore our justice system, and I look forward to working with him to get to the bottom of these concerning reports.
The letter may be read here.
Fox News covered the letter here.

Hosting a Special Order on the Border
I hosted a Special Order on the border. Several of my colleagues joined me to highlight the work done by President Trump’s Administration to make American communities safe once again. In a single month under President Trump and Secretary Noem, DHS arrested more than 20,000 illegal aliens. That’s a 627% increase in monthly arrests compared to Joe Biden’s regime.
Joe Biden and his cronies allowed millions of illegal aliens to invade and remain in our country. Many of those illegal aliens committed heinous crimes both in their home countries and in American communities. President Trump and his Administration are getting criminals out of our country.
I’m thankful to my colleagues who participated. Click the image below to watch the full Special Order:
Praising DOJ OIG’s Release of Data on Hemisphere Surveillance Program
This week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released previously redacted information relating to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s (ONDCP) Hemisphere Project. DOJ OIG released the information in response to a May 2024 letter from myself and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR). Our letter requested that DOJ OIG publicly release unclassified information contained in their March 2019 report on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Use of Administrative Subpoenas to Collect or Exploit Bulk Data.
Last year, the House Oversight Committee considered legislation to reauthorize the ONDCP. The bill included a number of provisions I negotiated that were designed to improve Congressional oversight of ONDCP funded programs, and to protect Americans’ privacy. The release of this information underscores the need for similar legislative reforms to be enacted across government programs.
Additionally, the ONDCP informed Senator Wyden that federal funding for Hemisphere was ended as of September 30, 2024, and the program has been shut down.
Senator Wyden and I have led bipartisan efforts to protect Americans’ privacy. This report contains information that the public has a right to see. The American people demand transparency from their government, and Congress must work to ensure that the federal government is accountable to its citizens. We’re thankful to DOJ OIG for their work to make new information public, and we look forward to further cooperation in the interest of American citizens.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Activity
The House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement held a hearing titled “Enhancing Federal, State, and Local Coordination in the Fight Against Criminal Illegal Aliens.” Policies pushed by the Biden Administration hamstrung federal immigration authorities from taking enforcement action against criminal illegal aliens. The Trump Administration has empowered federal immigration agents to enforce U.S. border laws, leading to record low illegal border crossings and increased safety in American communities.
The previous occupant of the White House claimed he couldn't secure the border without new legislation–that was a lie. President Trump has shut down the border simply by enforcing the law. Click the image below to watch part of the hearing:

2025 Military Service Academy Conference
America needs the next generation of men and women who are ready to defend the principles and freedoms of our great nation as Commissioned Military Officers. Students interested in answering this call should consider attending our Military Service Academy Conference, hosted in partnership with the Office of U.S. Congressman and former U.S. Navy SEAL, Eli Crane (AZ-02).
Liaisons from the U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, and local Reserve Officers' Training Corps programs will be present to discuss the application process and campus life. Staff from both congressional offices will provide information on the nomination application process for the incoming Class of 2030.
