If you saw my response from Thursday, then you know how I feel about Donnie and Elon’s CR getting through the Senate.

Simply put, I’m pissed off. And you should be too.

Democrats had some power here. Remember, Trump and Elon needed Democratic Senators to vote with them because their bill is so insane that even Rand Paul couldn’t bring himself to push it through. And as Mitch McConnell taught them, the filibuster can kill just about anything. Ask Supreme Court Justice Merrick Garland how that’s working out.

This was folding at its absolute worst.

These Senators were sent to Washington by their constituents to protect Medicaid, to protect Medicare, and to protect Social Security. What did a few of them do instead? They ran away like scared mice. They caved to the world’s most notorious bully and his freakazoid henchman. They handed the keys to the federal government over to the two guys responsible for tanking a booming economy in a matter of weeks. They let down the entire pro-democracy movement.

The government staying open means Trump and Elon can keep running things exactly like they have been. And in case you haven’t noticed, it’s been a f**king disaster. 

It’s time for a change. And in my experience, with a party as destructive as MAGA, the only way to inspire change is to get angry and get moving. That’s exactly what we’re doing at The Lincoln Project.

I believe in the pro-democracy movement. In fact, I think this movement is the only thing that keeps our government intact after what will be four of the most brutal years this country has faced in modern history. We’re strong. We make our presence known. And when it comes down to it, we fight like hell.

That’s why I’m asking you to get loud. I’m asking you to call your elected officials. I’m asking you to send around our ads. I’m asking you to volunteer for every state and local election that pops up in your area. I’m asking you to not take any of this sitting down. 

What we are witnessing is not normal. Heck, it’s not even legal. And it’s definitely not the American way. But believe me, if we buckle down and get serious about defending what our forefathers built, we’ll come out on top. This movement will never fold to Donald Trump. You have my word. The next four years are gonna be a dogfight, and it’s going to take every last one of us. Chip in to let us know your with us >>
