Open For Business: Senate Passes President Trump’s Spending Bill to Avoid a
Government Shutdown
Team Tillis is happy to report that Thom, along with Senate Republicans and a
handful of Democrats, successfully passed a stopgap funding measure, narrowly
averting a government shutdown.
Earlier this week, the outlook was grim. As Thom pointed out on X, Democrats
were on the verge of shutting down the government, shamefully filibustering to
appease their radical base. Unfortunately, Trump Derangement Syndrome is still
on full display for many people on the Left, and they’ll do anything to keep
the president from being successful—even if it’s at Americans’ expense.
Republicans were able to stand united and convince a handful of Democrats to
fund the government, which now allows the Senate to move full steam ahead on
passing President Trump’s agenda.

Legislative Highlights: Thom Introduces Bill to Strengthen Medical Supply
Chains
COVID-19 brought significant challenges to supply chains around the world,
impacting health care providers’ access to a range of equipment and treatments.
To safeguard against future crises like this, Thom and several of his Senate
colleagues introduced theMedical Supply Chain Resiliency Act, bipartisan
legislation that would provide the U.S. with greater ability to engage in trade
negotiations to ensure critical medical goods and services are delivered in a
timely manner to Americans and patients around the world.
“The Medical Supply Chain Resiliency Act is a critical step toward ensuring
that America’s healthcare providers have reliable access to the essential
supplies they need,” Thom said. “By strengthening trade partnerships with our
allies and expanding domestic manufacturing, we can enhance our nation’s
preparedness for future health challenges.”
Home At Last: Thom Joins Colleagues to Reintroduce Bipartisan Bill to Simplify
Application Process for Federal Disaster Assistance
If there’s anything we’ve learned from Hurricane Helene, it’s that disaster
victims need resources quickly. They don’t have time to navigate the
complexities of the federal government after their lives have been turned
upside down. Thom is hoping to fix this with the reintroduction of theDisaster
Assistance Simplification Act,a bill that would create one universal
application for multiple federal agencies.
Here’s what he had to say about the effort:
“When disasters like Hurricane Helene strike, families and communities should
be focused on rebuilding, not navigating a maze of bureaucratic red tape. This
bipartisan legislation creates a universal application for federal disaster
assistance, streamlining the process and ensuring survivors get the help they
need.”
The bill has been endorsed by several organizations, including the National
Association of Counties, National League of Cities, the National Emergency
Management Association, and more.
