John —
I’ve run two campaigns in Arizona. Both of them were some of the hardest fought, most expensive elections in the country. And (not to brag) I won both times.
On that last part. I was the candidate on the ballot, but it took a huge team to get across the finish line. I had a lot of smart people behind me, thousands of supporters knocking doors and making phone calls, and literally millions of donors chipping in to make it happen. I could not have done it without them.
I say all this because I can say with some authority that winning a competitive campaign is extremely difficult. And we have to win a lot of competitive campaigns in 2026 if we’re going to be able to put real, enforceable checks on the Trump Administration.
I’ve found the fight for my entire life, whether it was in the Navy, at NASA, or in the Senate. I like to make myself useful and stay busy. So, I took on another job this year.
Alongside my work fighting the Trump Administration in the Senate, I’ll be serving as Vice-Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. If there’s any chance I can make a difference, I am going to take it. I’ll be doing whatever I can to help pro-democracy candidates win their races and turn the tide in the Senate over the next two years.
I haven’t forgotten that the reason I won both of my races is because of people like you, John. I know how important you are to all of this, and you’re critical to what comes next.
So, I’ve got an important request:

I really appreciate this. It will make a real difference.
Hold fast, we’re going to get through this.
