Elon Musk's political games have finally caught up with him—and it’s not just his reputation that’s taking a hit. Tesla’s bottom line is crumbling as a result.
A new Morgan Stanley survey revealed that an overwhelming 85% of those polled believe Musk’s controversial political activities are hurting Tesla’s business. These are the very activities Musk has so desperately tied to his brand, from his support of Donald Trump to his chaotic moves in Washington with the Department of Government Efficiency.
The result? A 40% plunge in Tesla’s stock price, and that's just the beginning.
Nearly 60% of respondents expect Tesla to deliver fewer cars in 2025, with some predicting a decline of more than 10%.
If that isn’t a wake-up call, then the international backlash is: Tesla's reputation is being smeared in Germany—once a market of promise for Musk. Sales have dropped 76% after Musk’s far-right affiliations and disastrous social media stunts sparked protests and even vandalism of Tesla vehicles.
Musk's own comments have made it clear that he's struggling to manage his companies while doubling down on this reckless behavior. He admitted that running Tesla, X,
and SpaceX is becoming more difficult, and it shows. Tesla's core customers are now facing backlash, with stories of Tesla owners being harassed on the streets of Europe, and showrooms in the U.S. being besieged by protesters.
It’s clear that Musk is alienating customers, both domestically and abroad, and it’s only getting worse. His radical politics have crossed the line from business strategy to self-destructive obsession.
