Oklahoma,

First, I want to ensure ALL residents are staying safe and alert as dangerous wildfire conditions and high winds continue across our state. Reminder: please stay vigilant!

Second, I’m glad to share that the Republican-led Senate has confirmed all of President Trump’s cabinet-level secretaries at the fastest pace since 2001. Meanwhile, it would appear my Senate Democrat colleagues are all hat and no cattle. After a week of vowing to never vote for a Continuing Resolution (CR) under President Trump, they've caved. With a government shutdown avoided, President Trump and the Senate GOP can continue to Make America Great Again.

On Monday, we confirmed Lori Chavez-DeRemer to be the Secretary of Labor. Early in the process, President Trump asked me to work with Teamsters President Sean O’Brien to identify a Labor nominee who could work with right-to-work states (like Oklahoma), businesses, and the growing Trump coalition of union members. President Trump agreed that Lori was the right choice to deliver his America First Agenda. Senate Republicans are now 22-0 on confirmations. We only have ONE cabinet-level nominee left to confirm, Elise Stefanik for Ambassador to the United Nations. Leader Thune has united our Senate GOP colleagues in the longest Senate work period in over 15 years to put the president's team in place.

As the father of six children, I will always fight to preserve the dignity of every human live. On Wednesday, I introduced a bill with my Senate GOP colleagues to end federal support for research involving fetal tissue obtained from abortions and to outlaw trafficking of the body parts of aborted children. The Protecting Life and Integrity in Research Act would prohibit all federal agencies from conducting, funding, approving, or otherwise supporting any research involving human fetal tissues obtained from an induced abortion. This legislation would also prohibit solicitation or receipt of human fetal tissue resulting from an abortion.

I'll remind you that all 77 counties in Oklahoma voted for President Trump in each of the last three elections. As your Senator, I'm fighting every day to enact the mandate from Oklahoma voters. Yesterday, a government shutdown threatened our ability to move forward. Keeping the government open is essential to the MAGA agenda. Of course, we never would have been in this position if Leader Schumer had brought a single appropriations bill to the floor last year. Thankfully, Republicans are back in charge.

Together, we're moving forward to get our nation back on track!

This week, you may have seen the headlines that our heroic Oklahoma law enforcement recovered over five pounds of fentanyl off our streets. To be clear, this is enough to kill over one million Oklahomans. To better combat the deadly fentanyl epidemic raging in our country, yesterday the Senate came together in a huge bipartisan vote to pass the HALT Fentanyl Act. This legislation will ensure that fentanyl is permanently classified as a Schedule I substance. It will also bolster efforts to research fentanyl analogs and give law enforcement more power to crack down on drug traffickers.

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of a surprise visit by a group of veterans from Oklahoma led by my parents' pastor, Vinnie Hilderbrand. In addition to their service to our nation in the Vietnam War, they were also Cherokee citizens. It's a pleasure and a privilege to get up and do this job for exceptional Oklahomans like these individuals. Veterans, Tribes, and the rest of the Sooner state can rest assured that I'm fighting in Washington to make Oklahoma the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

On Tuesday morning, I joined Fox News' Dana Perino on America’s Newsroom to discuss the continuing resolution (CR), the possibility of a Schumer Shutdown, and the failure of Canada and Mexico to stop the flow of fentanyl. Additionally, we discussed reciprocal tariffs on Mexico and Canada in our efforts to counter the fentanyl epidemic on our streets.

On Thursday, The Washington Examiner published a story on my efforts to build relationships between my House and Senate colleagues, communicate with the White House, and update Oklahomans on what's going on in Washington. I explained that the only person with “power” in Washington is the President of the United States. Everyone else has a coalition—that’s why I prioritize building relationships that will benefit Oklahoma.
