Folks, here’s a recent headline from the Washington Post that caught our attention:

The House’s Republican edge is gone.
But the gerrymander lives.

For more than two decades, the status quo in the House was a clear bias favoring Republicans — thanks largely to egregious partisan gerrymanders in many states. This led to elections in which Republicans would win a wide majority of seats without winning a majority of votes.

We founded the NDRC to root out that unfairness and ensure our representation better reflected the will of the people. And we’re proud of the progress we’re making with your support.

In the 2022 and 2024 elections, Republicans won narrow majorities in the House, but in this case, it was because they also won narrow majorities of votes. The mathematical bias they had enjoyed cycle after cycle has been reduced – and we want to thank you for your continued support that made that progress possible.

But today, redistricting reform has never been more important. Many voters still live in extremely gerrymandered districts and lack fair representation. And in states across the country, partisan forces are actively trying to roll back fair maps.

To quote the Washington Post author directly, “The need to curb gerrymandering, then, is as urgent now as when it previously distorted the House as a whole.”

The NDRC’s work to defeat gerrymandering and establish fair maps is critical right now. Make a donation to ensure we can continue our fight for a truly representative democracy across the country. [[link removed]]
