For decades, cutting Social Security has been a political third rail. And while Republicans have threatened to cut Social Security in the past, dating all the way back to Newt Gingrich, it never became a real possibility until now.

Donald Trump is in the White House and enjoys a Republican majority in both the House and Senate. Now, his shadow President Elon Musk, is openly saying that he plans to cut Social Security. With the power Republicans currently hold, it is truly possible that folks could lose their benefits.
