Last night, Donald Trump vowed to use the military against Americans. This is a threshold we cannot allow the president to cross. To prove his intent, he tear-gassed people who were exercising their First Amendment right to peacefully protest and used religion as a prop for a photo-op with the gas and chaos in the background.

Let’s be clear: this is the behavior of a fascist dictator, not an American president. Trump has always shown us who he is. And now he has removed all doubt. Our rights and our very democracy are at risk. We must remove Donald Trump from office.

And our Congressman is nowhere in all of this. Instead of defending our democracy, John Katko is endorsing the president for four more years because he believes that "our country is in a better place today than it was four years ago." It makes me wonder exactly what John Katko wants us to become. Perhaps it's simply that he lacks the political courage to say what we all so clearly know: Donald Trump is unfit for office and is a danger to Americans and America.

It is time for us to rise up with one voice and say "enough." We must defeat the president's authoritarianism and remove his allies -- like Congressman John Katko -- from office. This is our democracy, and we will save it.
