DearFriend,
As I wrote yesterday, I am deeply troubled by the murder of Mr. George Floyd, the video of which represents just one more painful reminder of the legacy of racism, the danger to Black Americans posed by out-of-control endemic police violence, and the failure of our institutions to address inequality and injustice.
As such, tomorrow’s Coffee and a Column Zoom call will be extended to an hour (2 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST), and will be dedicated to how the Arab American community should address the problems of institutionalized racism and the need for critical policing reforms, as well as what we can do to support impacted communities.
Please RSVP here for the call. <[link removed]>
We will hear updates from New York, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and I will discuss the “Cleveland Study” I conducted in the 1990s. I will be joined by ADC President Samer Khalaf and AAI Organizer and Co-Founder of Dream Defenders, Ahmad Abuznaid.
I am looking forward to the conversation.
Jim Zogby
