Yesterday, Donald Trump announced he is bringing his traveling circus to Maine.

We have the worst possible president at the worst possible time. If Trump is coming to my state, we aren’t going to sit back and let him use Maine as a backdrop to promote his chaotic, unprepared, and narcissistic brand of leadership.

While Trump fuels the fire and sows division with tweets and childish rhetoric, here in Maine Governor Mills has continued to show tremendous empathy and compassion in these trying times. The President, on the other hand, has shown no capacity for leadership. His visit to Maine this Friday is no different. Even though Governor Mills asked him to stay in Washington, he is deciding to put himself first. Mainers need real leadership from the federal government right now, not a photo op.
