** GAS PRICE INCREASE DUE TO CLIMATE COMMITMENT ACT
------------------------------------------------------------
Washington’s CO2 tax will add about 40¢ per gallon to gasoline and 48 cents for diesel after the results of the latest auction.

The price of $50 per metric ton (MT) of CO2 is an increase of about 24% from December’s price of $40.26 and nearly double the price at the March 2024 auction ($25.76 per MT).

Additionally, this price is 19% higher than the projected $42.11 from the Department of Ecology’s December 2024 forecast.
