Folks,
Today, I voted against a continuing resolution to fund the government that will allow Donald Trump and Elon Musk to continue slashing and burning federal agencies.
In my 16 years in the Senate, I’ve never voted no on a continuing resolution before, and I wanted to take a moment to tell you why.
In the 53 days since Donald Trump took office, he has raised prices, tanked the stock market, made us less safe, and cut jobs, all the while seeking to enrich his own billionaire buddies with massive tax breaks.
The reality is that these are not normal times. The American people need us to use every single tool available to us to combat the Trump-Musk agenda – including denying them the funding to continue shuttering agencies.
So I voted no on today’s continuing resolution – not because I wanted to close the government, but because I could not support giving Donald Trump a blank check for the rest of the fiscal year.
I will always fight for Virginians and for the American people, even if that puts a target on me. Please, chip in what you can to help me continue the fight.
