Governor Abbott Supports Texas Women's Privacy Act in a Tweet over the weekend. See below:

Texas Values team member was startled by a man in the women’s restroom in the Capitol! Our own Strategic Policy Associate Megan Benton, went to the woman’s restroom at the capitol where a man was clearly present. Listen here to what Megan experienced. This is a demoralizing and dangerous circumstance that can happen to ANY woman or little girl that comes to visit the Texas Capitol.

The Texas Woman’s Privacy Act, HB 239, authored by Representative Valoree Swanson, has received massive bipartisan support from members of the Texas House of Representatives.

Gov. Greg Abbott, along with 77 Texas House members, including Democrats, support Texas Woman's Privacy Act. Gov. Abbott called this bill "Common sense legislation" in a tweet on X.

“I’m thrilled to announce that over HALF of the Texas House has co-authored this necessary and crucial piece of legislation. Our Texas women and girls deserve exclusive access to their private spaces and to feel safe in those areas." ~ Rep. Valoree Swanson

SB 406 authored by Senator Mayes Middleton would prohibit people in the state from changing the gender on their birth certificate.

"Government documents should not reflect someone's opinion or feeling, but they must be accurate and state true biological reality." - Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values

"We don't allow people to change their age on their birth certificate so why would we allow someone to change their gender?" - Megan Benton, Strategic Policy Associate for Texas Values. Megan is also quoted in a Fox News article here.
