Hi John,
The workers for our federal Social Security Administration are dedicated public servants who are committed to folks who need their assistance. I’ve seen how these folks work tirelessly every day to assist seniors, children, widows, people with disabilities, and others to ensure they get the help they need. But now, “First Jerk” Elon Musk is targeting this vital federal institution, calling it “a Ponzi scheme”, and proposing huge cuts. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Social Security is funded by all of us who earn a paycheck: you can see that 6% tax right on your paystub. Upon hitting retirement age, those funds that have been put in are paid out. That’s not an “entitlement”—that’s your money!
It is absolutely outrageous that Elon Musk has been given this kind of power, and we must hold him accountable. We’re facing our first end-of-quarter fundraising deadline at the end of the month: can you please chip in a few dollars today to help me keep up the fight? Protecting Social Security is a solemn duty, and I will always stand up for this critical program. It’s helped Americans for 90 years, and we must ensure Social Security remains strong for future generations.
Thank you,
Joe Courtney
