Hi John,
Reading the headlines coming out of Washington can be infuriating and demoralizing. It seems President Trump, Congressional Republicans, and Elon Musk are dead set on making the lives of working Americans as hard and expensive as possible, turning the economy upside down and slashing programs that we rely on so they can give their billionaire buddies a tax cut that we pay for. What the hell are they thinking?
While they do that, Colorado Democrats are working to bring costs down and improve your quality of life here at home.
Here’s what they’re up to in our State Legislature:
The legislature passed HB25-1022, the first bill of 2025 signed into law. This is a bipartisan law that expands qualification for healthcare professionals, strengthening our state’s healthcare workforce and making high-quality healthcare more affordable.
CO Senate Dems protect reproductive rights in our state. Last November, Coloradans passed Amendment 79, enshrining reproductive freedom into our state constitution and Senate Dems have passed legislation to reflect these changes.
CO Senate Dems passed the Worker Protection Act (S B25-005) , which modernizes Colorado’s Labor laws, making it easier for workers to collectively bargain and form unions. It is now in the House.
CO Senate Dems worked to reduce wildfire risk via HB25-1009 . This bill, which has passed the Senate, would allow districts that provide fire prevention services to create programs to help property owners remove dead or dry plant material that can fuel fires.
CO House Dems work to save you money on daily essentials by passing HB25-1010 . This bill would reduce costs by cracking down on corporate price gouging for everyday necessities and services necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of Coloradans, like groceries and toiletries.
The message is clear: Colorado Democrats are working to solve problems to make your life better. Support their efforts by making a contribution today >> [[link removed]]
And they are just getting started. Democrats in the state legislature have an ambitious agenda for 2025. They are working to pass bills that would safeguard our state’s elections, increase the production of affordable housing throughout our state, and lower the costs of childcare—and that’s just to name a few top priorities on the list!
