Protecting Indiana's Water Supply
|
From the Ohio River in the south to Lake Michigan in the north, access to water resources has allowed Indiana to grow and prosper throughout its history.
This year, Senate Republicans are prioritizing protecting our state's water resources with Senate Bill 4, which would require a permit for basin-to-basin water transfers and other large, long-distance water pipelines.
Indiana has plenty of water to meet our needs, but since that water is not evenly distributed across the state, SB 4 would set up a process to ensure large water transfers consider both hydrological and economic impacts on a region.

CarePortal Update - State Impact
In 2019, I championed a law that launched the CarePortal in Indiana, which helps connect children and families to resources with the goal of keeping children out of the foster care
system. The CarePortal, in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS), connects DCS, nonprofits, businesses and faith-based programs to strengthen child welfare resources in our communities. The graphic below
shows the great impact this program has had on our state since 2019.
