Hi John,
I come to you (mostly) recovered after pulling an all-nighter Tuesday. You're probably wondering: Rocío, why on earth would you do that?! You're not in college anymore! 😩
I did it to protect our neighborhood schools from the House's voucher bill, HB 3 [[link removed]] , and so did hundreds of other dedicated TFNers, teachers, students, and community members. The bill hearing began at 8 a.m. Tuesday — and lasted until 6 a.m. Wednesday — so that every single Texan who registered to testify could be heard.
We rallied our base and sent a clear, strong message that the public education committee couldn't ignore: Public tax dollars must stay with public schools! They left the bill pending in committee rather than sending it to the full House floor, a HUGE win at this stage.
This is what community action looks like, John! ✊🏼 😤
* 502 of the 734 Texans who registered to testify were against HB 3.
* During the hearing, TFN also hosted a press conference [[link removed]] with other public education advocates and community leaders urging lawmakers to reject voucher schemes .
* In case that all wasn't enough for legislators to get the message, the overwhelming majority of the nearly 3,000 pages of registered public comments also opposed vouchers!
If it weren't for the persistent advocacy of Texans like you, HB 3 might've made it out of committee this week. Your voice matters! THANK YOU!

As the battle against vouchers continues — and as other harmful public education bills like the Ten Commandments bill and prayer time in schools start to move — we need your continued support [[link removed]] . Whether you can swing $5 or $500, any amount you can give will help us stay on top of the fight for our public schools.

You can expect to hear from us again soon. The #TXLege hustle never stops!
