We’re BACK for another Abortion AF Friday news spiral, and this week is Abortion Provider Appreciation Week. We’re gonna tell you all about it, how we’re celebrating, and how you can celebrate, too!
AAF + Abortion Providers = BFF
For those of us who do this work, Abortion Provider Appreciation Week (APAW) is a time to honor those who provide care and honor those who lost their lives providing that care. It was started because of the assassination of Dr. David Gunn in Pensacola, Florida in 1992, and has grown into a week to elevate the amazing work and the incredible dedication of our healthcare heroes.

We at Abortion Access Front have been spending the week loving up on providers by creating hundreds of post-abortion care packages for Minnesota patients, providing self care for Maryland providers in the form of a PUPPY PARTY to boost that serotonin, helping new clinics open in Milwaukee and Chicago, and feeding providers from Missouri to DC, from North Carolina to Chicago, and a bunch of states in between! You know, like everybody should.
YOU SHOULD JOIN US! We have SO MANY volunteer opportunities for you to also make a difference – like our Adopt-a-Clinic [[link removed]] and Treat-a-Clinic Wishlists [[link removed]] ! Get on that… RIGHT NOW! But alas, even though we are trying to bring joy to these providers, the news media was not bringing joy to the movement. Here’s a story that’s going to make you want to sign up to volunteer even faster.
Creepy West Virginia Politicians Have Enthusiastically Deputized Strangers to Patrol Your Children’s Junk – WTF
Talk about taking fuckery to a new level [[link removed]] ! These monsters just passed a bill permitting healthcare providers to examine a minor's genitals to determine their "biological sex" without parental permission. AND THIS IS THE BETTER VERSION OF THAT BILL.
The OG bill would have allowed TEACHERS to perform the genital examinations. Just normal school day stuff, right? Math, English, then get an exam from Mr. Handsy before your kid can use the restroom. But it’s all about kids' safety, amirite?
