New Democrat Coalition Chair Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the admission of five new Members to Coalition: Reps. Jahana Hayes (CT-05), Kevin Mullin (CA-15), Dan Goldman (NY-10), Mike Levin (CA-49), and Brad Sherman (CA-32).

“New Dems are proud to welcome Reps. Goldman, Hayes, Levin, Mullin, and Sherman into our ranks. Each of these Members believes and practices the New Dems’ core values: seeking common ground and a pragmatic approach to policymaking,” said New Dem Chair Brad Schneider. “As New Dems continue to welcome in more like-minded Members from across the Democratic caucus, it is clearer than ever that our party’s current strength – and future success – relies on the commonsense vision generated and embodied by New Dem Members. I look forward to working more closely with each of the new Members joining this Coalition to help deliver for their constituents and the American people.”

New Democrat Coalition Chair Brad Schneider (IL-10) issued a statement following the floor vote on House Republicans’ hyper-partisan continuing resolution:

“Today, New Dems united with our House Democratic colleagues to vote against the House Republican government funding bill, which gives a blank check to Elon Musk – the richest man in the world – to further cut Americans jobs, dismantle services for Veterans and law enforcement, and slash funding for the health care for hardworking families.

“Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. They abandoned bipartisan government funding negotiations, risked a costly and harmful government shutdown, and now they own this bill and the damage it will cause across the country.

“This legislation will hurt our economy by adding to unemployment, endanger our communities by gutting agencies that keep our skies safe and prevent the spread of diseases like bird flu, and threaten our national security by failing to support our Veterans.

“We call on the Senate to join New Dems in rejecting this harmful legislation so Republicans come back to the negotiating table and Congress passes a bill that keeps the government open while fully funding the programs working people, children, seniors, and Veterans rely on.”
