Donald Trump is not a king, but he’s trying to govern like one.

The Trump administration wants to dismantle the Department of Education, a key federal agency that ensures tens of millions of students receive a high-quality education and critical resources. They announced this week that approximately 50 percent of the department’s workforce will be fired.

Dismantling the Department of Education would have devastating effects for tens of millions of students and their families, teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals.

This attack on our children proves that the only people in America who Trump is delivering for are billionaires.

Trump doesn’t have the authority to effectively shut down an entire federal department. His attempt to do so is illegal and unconstitutional, so I’m joining 20 other attorneys general in filing a lawsuit to stop it.

We’ve successfully filed lawsuits to block Trump’s unlawful orders before, but the fight to preserve critical programs isn’t over.
