John,
Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire are launching a campaign asking Trump to pardon Derek Chauvin. You know, the former police officer who murdered George Floyd in Minneapolis in cold blood.
We know that the conservatives are showing their true colors with Trump in power again, but damn this is a new low.
According to Elon Musk, this pardon is “something to think about.”
Think about what??? The man murdered someone, plain and simple! Chauvin was sentenced to 21 years in prison on a federal civil rights violation and 22.5 years on a state-level conviction of murder.
Elon, and Ben Shapiro definitely do NOT care about prison abolition. They don’t care about the inhumanity of the way the justice system currently works. The only thing they care about is letting a white supremacist receive privileges that innocent incarcerated Black and Brown folks will never get.
Elon and Shapiro appear to have no moral compass. They’re actively attacking our democracy, so why not pardon Chauvin while they’re at it? It’s just another way these petty tyrants can distract and divide us from their power grabs and attacks on our rights.
Look, John, we don’t have time for this. We need to be actively building safeguards in our communities from these petty tyrants — will you rush a donation of any amount to help lay the foundation?
We know it’s hard to stay hopeful in times like these. We appreciate all that you do.
Onwards,
Black Lives Matter
P.S. Need a mood booster? By 2045, these folks will be a footnote in history.
Our grassroots movement is pushing for Black liberation every single day. We are striving to create a world where Black people do so much more than just survive. It’s time we thrive.
As an organization one of our biggest hurdles is consistency.
A recurring contribution of anything you can afford goes a long way as we plan for the months, years, and even decades ahead. This is the most effective way for small-dollar donors (like you) to power our Black liberation work.
Will you make a recurring contribution of $5 or more today so that we can keep building momentum for our movement?
