Auditions for 'The Prince'
15th and 17th April 2025
at Lace Market Theatre
This is a callout inviting anyone interested in performing arts to consider auditioning for 'The Prince', a 2023 play by Abigail Thorn.
The story is about two trans women who get trapped in a Shakespeare play, and while they are trying to escape, they discover that one of Shakespeare's characters is also like them, but she hasn't realised it yet... and she's kind of in the middle of a civil war right now! 'The Prince' is a fun and challenging project with drama, comedy, swordfighting, and a cast of wonderful characters.
There are 8 parts to audition for. There are 3 parts written for trans women/transfeminine people, and 5 parts for anyone who fits the character descriptions, 1 female and 4 male. The ages of the characters range between 18-60.

Rhythmic Travails: PanthaVeena: Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty
Saturday 26 July 2025 at 5:30PM
Squire Performing Arts Centre
Jhankar NICA [Nottingham Indian Cultural Association] is delighted to host Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. A scion of the Patiala-Kasur Gharana (style), Panditji’s expertise extends to portrayal of subtleties of all major classical schools of India. The Indian classical genre stems from the centuries old oral-aural tradition and this performance will see the maestro create music on stage based on ancient melodic structures (Thaats/Ragas), tracing the travails of Indian classical vocal music over time. It will be a proud moment for Nottingham to experience an internationally renowned artiste, who has graced prestigious global venues. Panditji will be accompanied by Mr Soumen Sarkar on the tabla (traditional percussion instrument), Mr Meher Paralikar on vocal support and on the tanpura (drone instrument), and Mr Gourab Chatterjee on the harmonium (a reed organ). We are grateful to Geetanjali Academy of Fine Arts Ltd. for facilitating this concert as part of Panditji’s UK tour, 2025. (Source: Squire Performing Arts Centre Website)
