VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump official’s new scandal exposed by Fox News
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has wasted no time hitching his wagon to the gravy train, as questions from House Democrats amplified by a — wait, that can't be right — Fox News reporter reveal that Hegseth has already spent $137,297 in public money on paint and home repairs for his new government residence. With the Trump administration's supposed obsession with rooting out fraud and waste, surely this will be high on the list...right?

Pope rebukes Trump administration over migrant deportations, and appears to take direct aim at Vance
Pope Francis issued a scathing takedown of Donald Trump and JD Vance's heartless mass deportation plans, saying that anyone schooled in Christianity "cannot fail to make a critical judgment and express its disagreement with any measure that tacitly or explicitly identifies the illegal status of some migrants with criminality. What is built on the basis of force, and not on the truth about the equal dignity of every human being, begins badly and will end badly." Francis specifically responded to JD Vance's absurd attempt to theologically justify the deportations using the medieval "ordo amoris" concept, declaring, "The true ordo amoris that must be promoted is that which we discover by meditating constantly on the parable of the 'Good Samaritan,' that is, by meditating on the love that builds a fraternity open to all, without exception." This will inevitably incite a mob of so-called Christians rushing to tell the freaking Pope that actually, it's HE who is wrong about the tenets of Christianity and not the upjumped asshole convert cynically twisting words to justify a morally abhorrent political policy.

Deb Haaland vows to protect us from Trump and his billionaire allies
Deb Haaland for Governor: Deb Haaland has fiercely fought for justice and delivered results for working people throughout her life, be it as an organizer, from the halls of Congress, or as Secretary of the Department of the Interior. She will always refuse to sit idly by while Trump and his un-elected billionaire allies unleash chaos across the country and give polluters free rein to destroy our pristine wilderness. We can help Deb fight back against Trump by electing her to the governor’s office in New Mexico. Will you chip in to help this fierce public servant answer the call to service once again?
Elon admits he's full of shit in Oval Office presser
In a very illuminating White House press conference, the supposed "president" Donald Trump looked on like a confused child while Elon Nazitongue held court in the Oval Office — all he was missing was his own desk. Musk baselessly accused the majority of federal workers of becoming "millionaires" by fraudulently skimming off public funds and then admitted that he's just making things up all the time: "Some of the things that I say will be incorrect and should be corrected. So nobody’s gonna bat a thousand," Musk said. "I mean, any you know, we will make mistakes, but we'll act quickly to correct any mistakes." Except he isn't actually "making mistakes," he is a firehose of absolutely preposterous lies and open white supremacist propaganda.

GOP expected to release text of budget proposal on Wednesday
The interminable struggle for the GOP to fulfill the most basic function of government — paying for it — is reaching something resembling a climax. Punchbowl News' Jake Sherman reports that the House is finally prepared to release its own budget proposal, and it's a doozy. They want $4.5 TRILLION for tax cuts for the wealthy, a $300 billion mandatory spending increase for the military and border (ughhhhhh) and then a staggering $1.5 trillion in spending cuts to somehow offset the giant hole their tax cuts are going to blow in the budget. Oh, also they have just one day before the House goes on a week-long recess, bringing that March deadline oh so much closer. Oh, and the Senate, frustrated by the perpetual dysfunction of Mike Johnson's House, is preparing to markup its own version of a spending bill to deliver a quick win for Trump. One thing's for sure; whoever wins is going to leave the next Democratic president with a huge hole to climb out of. But what else is new?

Trump State Department official has repeatedly called for mass sterilization of "low-IQ trash"
Darren Beattie, Marco Rubio's pick to be the acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs, was fired from the first Trump administration in 2018 for — oopsie — speaking at a conference attended by white nationalists. Cavorting with white supremacists is obviously no longer a disqualifying act in the land of MAGA, of course, and Beattie — who has repeatedly called for the mass sterilization of "low-IQ trash" and demanded that "competent white men must be in charge" of the government — has landed himself a cushy gig at the frickin' State Department, where he will publicly represent American foreign policy to the world, which, last time we checked, is full of non-white people. Awesome. Waxing philosophical on super racist population control in May of 2024, Beattie actually wrote: "Higher quality humans are subsidizing the fertility of lower quality humans." In 2023 the sentient hemorrhoid complained that "offering feral populations financial incentives for voluntary sterilization is completely taboo." But wait, there's more! In October that same year the snot-gurgling eugenicist tweeted, "When a population gets feral, a little snip snip keeps things in control. Could offer incentives (Air Jordans, etc.)." Any chance we might "incentivize" this racist little cave troll to crawl back into his parents' mildewy basement and permanently disconnect the wifi?
USAID IG fired day after report critical of impacts of Trump administration’s dismantling of the agency
USAID Inspector General Paul Martin was fired by the Trump administration for revealing that nearly $500 million worth of food *already paid for* with public money is spoiling and going rotten as it sits in ports, on ships, and in warehouses after the mothballing of all USAID activities by the incompetent morons running Elon Musk's "DOGE" operation. The report also pointed out that USAID had a very strict partner-vetting program to make sure that US humanitarian aid doesn't end up going to terror groups, and now that program has been halted since everyone working has been furloughed or fired. Far from saving the public money, the ideological right-wing war against a very important program that helps some of the world's poorest people has inevitably ended up being a colossal waste of money...while causing people to starve. That's conservatism in a nutshell for you.

Trump pushes dangerous authoritarian agenda
Squad Victory Fund: As America grapples with economic struggles, climate disasters, and fear in marginalized communities, the Trump administration is pushing more divisive legislation. The next four years are going to be challenging, but we can’t afford to let Trump and his allies push policies that bulldoze our communities and undermine our democracy. We must uplift bold leaders who are defending our values and challenging this unjust status quo. Will you add your name to stand up to Trump’s far-right agenda and support the next generation of progressive leaders?
Democrats "pissed" at liberal groups MoveOn, Indivisible
A closed-door meeting for House Democrats this week apparently included an airing of grievances directed at liberal grassroots organizations MoveOn and Indivisible for organizing mass call-ins by voters demanding a more confrontational response to the pillaging of the federal government by unelected alt-right billionaires and a looming constitutional crisis. Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is apparently personally "very frustrated," and Democrats are complaining that they aren't in the majority and there's nothing they can do beyond writing sternly worded letters. Click here to find your representative's contact information and let them know exactly how you feel about that.
Elon Musk’s team decimates Education Department arm that tracks national school performance
The Trump administration has terminated more than $900 million in Education Department contracts, taking away a key source of data on the quality and performance of the nation’s schools. A spokesperson for "DOGE" said that the standardized test known as the nation’s report card, the National Assessment of Educational Progress, would not be affected, nor would the College Scorecard, but it's very clear the DOGE team have no idea what they are doing and are also liars. This is surely the first step towards being able to manipulate school test data in order to justify a national push towards for-profit charter schools that funnel our public money into the pockets of the wealthy.
Jordan’s king buys more time on Trump’s Gaza plan with flattery
Terrifyingly, it appears that Trump's plan for the United States to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip and..."own it" is in fact more than just some flight of delusion the MAGA cult leader made up on the fly, to be immediately forgotten as soon as the cameras are off. Trump is now threatening to withhold US aid to Jordan and Egypt unless they agree to resettle the two million or so Gazans in their countries. King Abdullah II of Jordan flew to Washington to do damage control, mollifying the desperately insecure Trump with flowery words, telling him that he's "somebody who can take us across the finish line to bring stability, peace, and prosperity to all of us in the region" while proposing to take in 2,000 sick Gazan children. Trump seemed satisfied with this answer, telling King Abdullah "that’s really a beautiful gesture. That’s really good, and we appreciate it." In one of those classic moments of jaw-dropping irony, lifelong bully Trump later remarked that "a bully is the weakest person." If only he could see a mirror under all his eyelid bronzer.
Trump administration threatens to ban the Associated Press from the White House press pool if they don't use the term "Gulf of America"
For a group of supposedly "free speech," anti-preferred pronoun Republicans, they sure throw a hissy fit when you don't accept their absurd demands.
