1) That Giant Flushing Sound

Yes, that's the sound of Trump directing the EPA and Department of Energy to reverse nearly every Biden regulation on home appliances and fixtures - everything from toilets to lawnmowers - in one big beautiful executive order ([link removed]) that he signed on Day One, and reminded his EPA administrator yesterday to move quickly to implement:

[link removed]

Now you only have to flush once. Now you can take a real shower and not wait to trickle down.

No longer will the nanny state tell you what kind of car you can put in your garage. What kind of lawn mower, weed wacker, or sprinkler you can use on your lawn. What kind of lightbulb you can put in your lamps. What kind of stove or dishwasher you can use in your kitchen.

These were supposed to save energy and money, but instead they caused a consumer backlash.

Here's our partial list of the appliances that will be liberated from regulations either finalized or proposed under Biden:
* Gas Stoves ([link removed])
* Ovens ([link removed])
* Light Bulbs ([link removed])
* Cars ([link removed])
* Clothes Washers ([link removed])
* Refrigerators ([link removed])
* Freezers ([link removed])
* Air Conditioners ([link removed])
* Dishwashers ([link removed])
* Pool Pumps ([link removed])
* Battery Chargers ([link removed])
* Ceiling Fans ([link removed])
* Dehumidifiers ([link removed])
* Microwave Ovens ([link removed])
* Portable Electric Spas ([link removed])
* Air Compressors ([link removed])
* Water Heaters ([link removed])
* Furnaces ([link removed])

Free. Free at last!

2) Elon Musk Superhero

Yesterday, Elon appeared in the Oval Office for the signing of a new executive order backing DOGE's efforts ([link removed]) , including a directive that only one new federal employee be added for every four who depart.

We love it, even if Elizabeth Warren's head is exploding.

The biggest bottleneck in downsizing the federal workforce, Musk has exposed, is that the limestone mine where federal retirements are processed by hand, can process no more than 10,000 per month. Watch Trump try not to laugh:

Our only response to this prehistoric way to keep records is: Flintstones. Meet the Flintstones. Ya ba daba doo!

3) Top Obama Economist Scorches Biden's Economic Folly

Now that the Biden-Harris administration is history, some honest Democratic economists are emerging to tell us what they really think of its record.

Jason Furman, who was chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Barack Obama, writes in the current issue of Foreign Affairs on "the tragedy of Bidenomics."

This chart is his most powerful exhibit and suggests Furman may be a secret HOTLINE reader:

[link removed]

Furman writes that the "administration's desire to avoid repeating the mistakes of 2008 and its infatuation with the hot economy hypothesis, cost the economy dearly" by fueling rapid inflation.

Here are two remarkable admissions:

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law did little to address the root causes of the United States' long-standing infrastructure unaffordability problem--excessive environmental reviews, labyrinthine permitting processes, and laws requiring that workers are paid prevailing wages--and, in some respects, worsened the crisis by adding new requirements. The permitting reform that was supposed to pass in parallel with the climate bill never became law...Spending such a huge amount all at once without any steps to increase construction capacity led to even higher cost increases for building materials than was reflected in the overall inflation rate.

And there's more:

The manufacturing revival has run up against the problem of crowding out. By increasing subsidies for semiconductor fabrication and green technology innovation, for example, the government has encouraged their production. But these same policies, coupled with other fiscally expansionary policies, have driven up the prices of materials and equipment, wages for construction and factory workers, interest rates for entrepreneurs hoping to borrow, and the value of the dollar, all of which have made it harder for nonsubsidized manufacturing to prosper.

Is this the Obama camp's attempt to completely repudiate Bidenomics? It sure looks that way, but we want to remind readers there is a bit of false nostalgia here. Obamanomics was a total disaster for the country as well, and Obama only won a second term because of a lousy GOP opponent in Mitt Romney.

4) Another Job For DOGE – Repair Our Stone Age Air Traffic Control

From 2009 up until last month there were no fatal U.S. commercial passenger jet accidents. But the deadly crash at Reagan National Airport in Washington is a reminder of the risks. It was a collision waiting to happen. The FAA reports 1,200 near misses on runways last year and nearly 200 in air "operational incidents" where air traffic controller mistakes nearly caused fatal crashes.

Last Thursday, President Trump promised a "great, computerized system" of air traffic control, something "brand new ... done by two or three companies." Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says he has already contacted Elon Musk's DOGE team and asked him "to plug in to help upgrade our aviation system."

[link removed]

Duffy has already moved to grow the number of qualified air traffic controllers by lifting their mandatory retirement age from 56 to something closer to the 65-year cap for airline pilots.

Maybe privatization is the answer. President Trump supported ([link removed]) this during his first term and he is right that our ATC system is "stuck, painfully, in the past ... ancient, broken, antiquated."

Transportation expert Bob Poole notes ([link removed]) : "Countless studies have shown that other countries' ATC systems are better-managed, better-funded, and better-supplied with advanced technology." This is a disgrace that causes accidents and thousands of flight delays.

5) Proxy Adviser ISS Drops Diversity Criteria for Its Board Endorsements

Chalk this up as another big win in our anti-ESG efforts and evidence that Trump's anti-DEI executive order (now backed by Attorney General Pam Bondi's enforcement memo ([link removed]) ) suggesting private company DEI efforts may run afoul of federal civil rights laws.

The ISS statement comes pretty close to admitting their previous policy of endorsing board members based on diversity criteria was illegal discrimination:

Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) annually conducts a thorough, rigorous, and transparent policy review to consider updates to its Benchmark policy and its Specialty policies for the upcoming proxy season. On an exceptional basis, ISS also considers updates to its policies in light of relevant legal and regulatory changes...

In the United States, there recently has been increased attention on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices, including the issuance last month of Presidential Executive Orders on DEI...

In light of these developments, ISS will indefinitely halt consideration of certain diversity factors in making vote recommendations with respect to directors at U.S. companies under its proprietary Benchmark and Specialty policies.

6) OK, We Take Greenland and They Take Bankrupt California

As long as it's just the braindead blue cities and the rest of the state can stay American, we're open to it. Do we get to keep San Diego?
