Planned Parenthood chooses abortion over women's health

“But if abortion were indeed such a small and insignificant part of Planned Parenthood’s grand mission, as we are assured, would it be such a sacrifice to financially separate it from the rest of the business? If women’s healthcare needs were so dire, and the Title X program were so essential to the group’s success, surely it would be a price worth paying. Planned Parenthood has decided that it is not." —Alexandra DeSanctis, Staff Writer at National Review and this week’s guest on "Life, Liberty, and Law"

"Life, Liberty, and Law" with Alexandra DeSanctis ([link removed][UNIQID])
(Americans United for Life) This week on "Life, Liberty, and Law" Tom Shakely and Noah Brandt speak with one of the brightest stars in pro-life journalism, Alexandra DeSanctis of National Review. Alexandra updates us on what's going on in Congress with paid family leave, what's next for Planned Parenthood, and what it's like as a journalist to value life when so few around her do so.
Comment Supporting Proposed Rule Revising ACA Section 1557 Regulations ([link removed][UNIQID])
(Americans United for Life) AUL wrote in support of the proposed rule’s clarification that sex discrimination does not include “termination of pregnancy,” the explicit inclusion of Title IX’s religious and abortion exemptions, and the identification and incorporation of federal religious freedom, conscience, and nondiscrimination laws.
Planned Parenthood Exposes Its Dedication to Abortion ([link removed][UNIQID])
(National Review) But thanks to the HHS rule, the group now has to pick one message, and it has chosen the latter. It is Planned Parenthood, then, and not Donald Trump, removing itself from Title X by refusing to comply with the conscience protections, demanding instead that it be compensated for providing a procedure that millions of Americans find morally objectionable. And so on Monday, with much fanfare and dogmatic insistence on the anti-woman cruelty of our president, the group will withdraw from Title X — and women’s health care will be better for it.

Opinion on abortion's legality unchanged; some shifting within group ([link removed][UNIQID])
(Angelus News) While a survey of more than 54,000 Americans showed little change in their attitudes between 2014 and 2018 on the legality of abortion, researchers detected movement in many demographic groups, Catholics included.
New Poll Has a Few Encouraging Results for Pro-Life Voters ([link removed][UNIQID])
(National Review) Abortion certainly will be a highly salient issue in the 2020 election, as every Democratic presidential candidate supports Roe v. Wade and has publicly opposed the Hyde amendment, which prevents the direct taxpayer funding of abortion. Pro-lifers should welcome surveys that show both opposition to taxpayer funding and higher levels of intensity among pro-life voters.
Abortion referendum approved for circulation, advocates call it ‘impossible task’ ([link removed][UNIQID])
(The Missouri Times) The Missouri Secretary of State issued ballot language for a petition seeking to give voters the final say in an sweeping anti-abortion bill. Advocates now have less than two weeks to gather more than 100,000 signatures.
FCC Proposal: Dial 988 to Prevent Suicide ([link removed][UNIQID])
(National Review) I’m all for it. But I wonder whether Oregon, California, and the seven other states that have legalized “suicide by doctor” (a term I first heard from my friend Tom Shakely of Americans United for Life), would permit the system to operate. After all, they are on record as being pro-some suicides.

(Fox News) An abortion trade group on Thursday announced the launch of a prepaid gas card pilot program for women who need to travel greater distances to get the procedure as more states continue to impose highly restrictive laws.
