Dear John,

Over the past week, President Trump has double- and triple-downed on his dangerous proposal for the US to “take over” Gaza. His reckless insistence that the United States participate in the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza is a clear call for ethnic cleansing –a war crime.

Trump’s claim that this forced displacement could occur without US military involvement is both deceptive and absurd. The mass expulsion of a population of this scale would inevitably require force, making his denials not only unrealistic but also deeply irresponsible.

Congress must make it clear that not a single taxpayer dollar will be spent on the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians living there.

At a time when de-escalation is imperative, any US military intervention would be catastrophic. President Trump’s desire for the United States to “take over” Gaza poses a direct threat to regional stability and human lives, including those of American servicemembers. His rhetoric alone has already inflamed tensions and jeopardized the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, endangering the release of the remaining hostages.

Senator Tim Kaine has introduced a vital resolution condemning any use of US military assets or personnel to take over Gaza.

Join us in calling on Congress to reject President Trump's illegal and immoral plan. Contact your Senators and urge them to cosponsor Senator Kaine's resolution.

In solidarity,
