Friend – last week, I wrote to you about fighting back against the unlawful takeover of our government by Elon Musk.
Now, Time Magazine has depicted what we all know to be true: Elon Musk is calling the shots from inside the White House, acting with slash and burn recklessness to reward the rich (himself), closing departments without authorization, exporting our personal and national metadata to his unvetted minions, and exposing all Americans to danger – both literal and digital – all the while leaving the working class with the bill.
This, to quote Tim Snyder, is the logic of destruction: “In the logic of destruction, there is no need to rebuild afterwards. In this chaos, the oligarchs will tell us that there is no choice but to have a strong man in charge. It can be a befuddled Trump signing ever larger pieces of paper for the cameras, or a conniving Vance who, unlike Trump, has always known the plot. Or someone else.”
