This is an incredibly delicate moment for our democracy, and I’m doing all I can in Congress to stop the deluge of unconstitutional, unlawful activities we’re seeing from President Trump and his allies.
While we’ve had some success in stopping the blanket federal funding freeze, we need to keep pushing as we’re still seeing funding halts on crucial programs across the government. Right now, it’s even affecting our ability to hire and train new firefighters!
Trump’s freeze is halting the onboarding of federal firefighting crews ahead of the next wildfire season. The importance of hiring and training firefighters cannot be overstated, especially on the heels of the devastating January fires here in Southern California.
If the freeze on federal firefighters stands, we will miss the opportunity to properly staff and train first responders in time for the spring and summer fire risk – making any potential fires even more dangerous to our communities.
We need to fight back, and it’s going to take all of us. Please take action by signing my petition today to stop the freeze on firefighters when we need them most.
