Dear John,

We are thrilled to introduce our newest Non-Resident Policy Fellow, Yasmine Elkharssa, who joins MPAC with a deep passion for public service and civil rights advocacy. A recent graduate of the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, Yasmine brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our mission.

A proud Dearborn Heights native with roots in South Lebanon, Yasmine’s lived experiences as a visibly Arab, Muslim woman from a low-income background have shaped her commitment to uplifting marginalized communities. Her leadership has been recognized at the national level—she was named a 2023
Truman Scholar, one of just 62 students selected nationwide for their dedication to public service, outstanding leadership potential, and academic excellence. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship is one of the nation’s most prestigious honors for young leaders committed to addressing society’s biggest challenges through careers in public service.

Yasmine has worked extensively in policy and advocacy spaces, including roles at the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP), the Office of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, and as co-president of Students of Color in Public Policy. Currently, alongside her MPAC fellowship, she is also serving at the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). Looking ahead, she plans to further her impact by pursuing a JD, MPP, or both.

We are honored to have Yasmine on board and look forward to the incredible work she will contribute to MPAC’s mission of advancing justice, equity, and dignity for all. Please join us in welcoming her!

In service,

Muslim Public Affairs Council
