[ [link removed] ]Trump responds to protests with a strongman act
A lawless President incites violence,
gasses protesters, and threatens a military crackdown across the country.

The response from his own party? Crickets.

Two Republican senators described Donald Trump’s incendiary conduct as
“not helpful.” “Not constructive,” chirped another.

Cory Gardner—Colorado’s invertebrate senator—wouldn’t even go that far.
“We all have to do better every day,” Gardner said.

Seriously, Cory? That’s the most you can muster?

It’s a far cry from the promise Gardner made in 2014: “When my party is
wrong, I’ll say it. When something is broken, I’ll fix it.”

Those words ring even more hollow now than they did then. If anyone
expected Gardner to buck his party, the last six years should dispel that
illusion.

So where do we go from here?

Americans are anguished by police brutality and racial injustice—and by an
administration hellbent on weaponizing our fears. We need a senator, not a
sycophant, to set a new course.
