Friend --

It may not feel like it with all that’s going on—but today is Primary Election Day in seven states plus the District of Columbia:

<[link removed]>District of Columbia <[link removed]>, Maryland <[link removed]>, Pennsylvania <[link removed]>, Indiana <[link removed]>, New Mexico <[link removed]>, Montana <[link removed]>, South Dakota <[link removed]>, and Rhode Island <[link removed]>.

We won’t waste your time recapping the anguish and despair of our current climate but we want to say this:

In order to dismantle a broken system we must vote in the leaders who won’t sit idly by while they reopen our cities and turn a blind eye to the racial health disparities. We need to vote in the leaders that will march on the frontlines and rise up for our fallen brothers and sisters. Long and short—we need to vote.

While today’s election has shifted to primarily vote-by-mail in most states, voters still have the ability to vote in-person in some locations.

If you plan to vote in-person today, we want you to do it safely per COVID-19 hygienic guidelines:

- Wear your mask.
- Try to vote at a time of day when your precinct is less likely to be crowded. This is often early morning or mid-afternoon.
- Maintain a six-foot distance from other voters and poll workers, including if you’re waiting in line to vote.
- Wash your hands for 20 seconds before and after voting. Use an alcohol based hand-sanitizer if you can’t wash your hands right away.
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
- Wipe down any polling equipment you use before and after you use it with anti-bacterial wipes.
- Some polling places will offer curb-side voting, where you can vote from your car. Call your county election administrator ahead of time to see if they offer curbside voting.

We can move this country to higher heights one vote at a time, starting with you, and as we march forward to Election Day in November make sure to bookmark blackwomenvote.com for all the 2020 latest news.

Onward,

Lakeila
