Dear John,

This week has been busy in Washington, and I wanted to reach you with an update on what I am working on. Keep scrolling for updates.

Preventing a Government Shutdown:

This week, I was proud to help the House of Representatives pass a continuing resolution funding bill. This legislation would continue to fund the government at its current levels through the end of September and prevent a lapse in critical services and obligations from the federal government.

It now goes to the Senate, where I encourage all members to vote yes to keep the government open.

Legislative Update:

This week, the House passed my bill to overturn the IRS “DeFi Crypto Broker Rule” on a strong, bipartisan basis. Basically, this rule removes a burdensome regulation that would have overwhelmed the IRS with an overflow of new, unnecessary filings and hindered its ability to do work that serves everyday Americans. Learn more about my bill and what it does by clicking here.

This week, I also introduced two new, bipartisan bills.

First, I introduced the Credit for Caring Act, a bill that would offer a tax credit of up to $5,000 for working family caregivers. This tax credit would offset costs American families have to bear to care for their loved ones and provides flexibility to care for them in the way that works best for their family’s situation.

Second, I introduced the National STEM Week Act, legislation that would create an annual week dedicated to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education access and interest, especially among communities with limited access to educational resources.
