I’ll be upfront: This is a long email about why I’ve fought so hard for Minnesota’s next generation of leaders throughout my career in public service.
But before I explain further, my campaign’s first FEC deadline is coming up in two weeks, and we need to prove that we have what it takes to win this race. If you don’t have time to read the whole thing, will you consider taking 30 seconds to rush $7 to my campaign now?
I didn’t grow up privileged.
I was raised by a single mom in St. Louis Park. We had a home because of a Section 8 housing voucher. Other public programs helped my mom, Pat, pay for school lunch, health insurance coverage, and child care.
While we may not have had a lot of money, we were certainly rich in love — both inside and outside of our home.
I’ll never forget how my neighbors wrapped their arms around my mom and me when we were in need.
Because of government assistance, my mom had the opportunity to go back to school and become a phlebotomist (the folks who draw your blood at the hospital lab!). The generosity of our community helped lift us into the middle class and shaped me into the person I am today.
Today, I’m determined to do the same for them with every action I take in both my personal life as a mom and member of our community and my career as a public servant.
I served as the executive director of Children’s Defense Fund - Minnesota, where I focused on making sure our children, families, and communities can thrive for generations to come.
I was then elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives, where I led the Subcommittee on Child Care Access and Affordability.
Now, as Lieutenant Governor, I’ve made transformative investments in education and child care and championed free school lunches for every student in Minnesota.
My neighbors made sure I wasn’t left behind — so I’ll never stop fighting to ensure their children have everything they need to succeed and become the amazing people that make Minnesota great.
Our children deserve a voice on the national stage, and I’m determined to deliver exactly that on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
But I can’t do it alone. When our numbers go public at the end of the month, we need to send a message of hope, strength, and unity. Please consider supporting my fight for all of our children with a donation today.
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process now.
