Good morning,
With springtime finally arrived, I wanted to invite you to put several events on your calendar for the coming weeks:

I announced last week my Second Annual Eid Celebration Dinner on April 6th, 2025 at 6 PM , in the City of Fairfax . [[link removed]] This special evening will be a chance to come together, celebrate our shared values, and reaffirm our commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive future. I look forward to celebrating with you in the spirit of Eid next month.

This coming weekend , I will join former Delegate Mark Keam, who represented our area for 12 years in the House of Delegates, for a Friendraiser in support of May Nivar on Sunday, March 16th at 4 PM in Vienna. [[link removed]]

This will be a very competitive election for Delegate in the 57th House District in Henrico County.that could decide control of the House of Delegates, so I am proud to do my part to support May's candidacy. I met may through DAAV, the Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia, and I'm very glad she decided to become a candidate to serve in public office.
Closer to home, my colleague Delegate Holly Seibold has her Re-election Campaign Kickoff on Sunday, March 30th at 6 PM. [[link removed]]

Holly ran alongside me when I was a first-time candidate in 2023. Since then I have seen how hard Delegate Seibold works to represent our interests in the House of Delegates. I know she will work just as hard to earn even more votes this year than she did in 2023.

Earlier this week I spoke with NPR's Michael Pope about my bill SB 1166 [[link removed]] to reduce the harm to our environment caused by invasive plants through consumer education. Invasive plants threaten habitats for endangered species, degrade agricultural land and recreation spaces, and decrease water quality. My bill is a simple solution and the governor should sign it. I hope you'll take a moment to listen! [[link removed]]
Trump Watch:
The Trump administration's aggressive cuts to the federal workforce have continued since my last email, with the announcement this week that the DOGE commission will attempt to reduce employment at the Department of Education by half. With Congress and the Senate also grappling with whether to pass a budget, I wanted to again share the resources below we have compiled for folks who are impacted by this.

As we await Reconvened Session in early April, when I will return to Richmond with my colleagues to vote on the Governor's amendments and vetoes on the legislation we passed earlier this year, I am enjoying this time to be in the community hearing from friends and neighbors about the issues and challenges they are thinking about. I hope to see you at one of these events.
Sincerely,
