Dear John,
I am writing to you as a client of Shannon Liss-Riordan. Over the last few years, Shannon has taken on the entire gig economy [[link removed]] on behalf of workers like me.
As a driver for DoorDash, I know gig companies have been taking advantage of workers to drive up their profits . Because we are classified as independent contractors, we don’t have any of the rights of employees—such as minimum wage protection, overtime, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, or the ability to form a union.
I have been driving for DoorDash for several years and can barely afford my rent and basic necessities. Many days, I bring home less than minimum wage because I have to pay for my own vehicle, gas, and insurance to make the deliveries.
Shannon is the nation’s leader in fighting for gig workers . She developed the law of employment misclassification to protect workers in Massachusetts and was instrumental in having that law adopted recently in my home state of California. Last week, I was very excited to see Elizabeth Warren echo Shannon and speak out in favor of passing A.B. 5 without exemptions [[link removed]] , which would make it much easier for workers in California to get the employment protections they deserve. Shannon will fight tirelessly to have this protection become federal law to protect workers across the country.
I am supporting Shannon’s campaign for Senate [[link removed]] because I know how hard she has fought to protect my rights as a worker. Please join me in supporting her by chipping in $10 or $25 [[link removed]] to make sure that we all get a fair shake and have a voice in Washington!

Sincerely,
[[link removed]]
Cynthia Marciano
