"The closer you come to the front line, the more dire the situation is. You see villages; you see whole areas along the front line [that] are completely destroyed, devastated." — Dr. Tankred Stöbe, medical coordinator in Ukraine.
Three years after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the devastation Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are seeing has only escalated. Entire communities have been reduced to rubble, our patients and our teams face threats of drone strikes, and the need for medical care has never been greater. Very few hospitals in Ukraine are equipped to provide the specialized physiotherapy, trauma care, and mental health support required, and MSF is filling this critical gap.
We need your support to continue to provide vital care to those who need it most. As the war continues, so does the demand for urgent medical care and humanitarian aid.

Dr. Tankred Stöbe, an MSF medical coordinator, has traveled to Ukraine four times over the last three years. He has coordinated medical efforts along the front lines, covering nearly 2,000 miles. MSF’s medical teams stay near the front lines in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. In Kherson city, MSF teams stay for two weeks at a time—staying in the hospital day and night. Tankred explained that the strategy is to protect staff, because “moving, being on the road, being in the open is one of the most dangerous moments in that war there because you’re exposed to drone attacks, to bombs, to missiles.” Up to half a million people have severe injuries caused by the war, and Tankred witnessed what he describes as an “epidemic of
physical trauma” among people in Ukraine.
Our work is only possible because of the global movement of people like you who power it. Your support is making a direct impact for our patients and our teams on the ground. We have seen the incredible strength of the Ukrainian health system in the face of extreme violence, but the need for sustained international humanitarian aid is now greater than ever.
Please help us respond to multiple ongoing emergencies worldwide, including in Ukraine. Don’t wait—rush your donation today >>
Thank you for supporting our work in this critical moment.
