Dear John,
“I can’t breathe.”
Another violent death at the hands of police -- George Floyd, a 45 year old
Black man, was yet another victim of police brutality.
The footage of the white police officer, Derek Chauvin, suffocating George Floyd
to death has horrified people across the world. Once more, an innocent life was
taken by law enforcement. George Floyd would be alive today if systemic racism
weren’t embedded in the ranks of police departments across the United States.
Derek Chauvin has been arrested and charged for the murder of George Floyd.
Without the brave people in Minneapolis protesting, that never would have
happened. Still -- three other officers stood by and allowed George Floyd’s
murder. So far, prosecutors have let them off the hook.
Today, we’re standing in solidarity with our allies at Color of Change and Black
people across the country who are fighting for justice to hold these officers
accountable for their crimes. But we can’t do this without you.
Tell the Hennepin County Attorney: All four officers need to be held accountable
for murdering George Floyd!

George Floyd is not an isolated case. His death is the latest tragedy in a long
history of Black people murdered by oppressive police officers.
* Ezell Ford -- Shot and killed walking around his neighborhood
* Tamir Rice -- 12 years old -- Shot and killed in a city park
* Bettie Jones -- Shot and killed after opening her door to help upstairs neighbor
* Philando Castile -- Fatally shot during a traffic stop in front of his girlfriend and her
daughter
* Breonna Taylor -- Shot and killed while sleeping in her bed
And Eric Garner -- another Black man suspected of a petty crime who was killed while begging
for help. “I can’t breathe.” Six years later, the death of George Floyd shows that far too many people --
including the police and those who could hold them accountable -- disregard
Black lives.
Let’s be clear -- Derek Chauvin wasn’t charged because officials wanted to do
the right thing. It only happened in response to public pressure -- Because even
when a violent murder of a Black person is captured on video by an officer with
a long history of misconduct, public officials drag their feet in securing
justice for Black communities.
Enough is enough. This has to stop. We demand an end to the war against Black
people. This starts with the Hennepin County Attorney, Michael Freeman, bringing
charges against the remaining officers.
Demand Justice for George Floyd: Sign now to make public officials secure
justice for our communities.

All four officers must be held accountable for George Floyds death. Derek
Chauvin, Thomas Lane, Tou Thao, and J. Alexander Kueng must face punishment for
their crimes. Being fired is not enough!
Black communities are outraged, tired, and fatigued over police officers
murdering Black people with impunity! Time and time again, when a police officer
kills a Black person, justice is denied.
This fight will not end with the prosecution of four killers in Minneapolis. It
will not end until every police officer who commits violence against Black
people is held accountable. It will not end until the structure of
state-sanctioned murder is dismantled. It will not end until every single person
recognizes -- and voices -- that Black Lives Matter.
It is time for a change. We cannot give up.
Join 3.5 million people who have signed the petition to demand justice for
George Floyd!
