NYPD Removes Pro-Palestinian Protesters From Trump Tower

Just the News: The New York Police Department on Thursday removed dozens protesters inside the lobby of Trump Tower in New York City to protest the detainment of a Columbia University graduate who helped lead pro-Palestinian protest on the Ivy League campus. The detainee, Mahmoud Khalil, was taken into custody over the weekend by federal agents and is now reportedly in a holding facility in Louisiana awaiting a hearing. The Trump administration wants to deport Khalil despite him having a Green Card, which has sparked some protest. The protesters in side the tower were seen holding signs that read “Free Mahmoud, Free Palestine” and “Fight Nazis Not Students” (Just the News). Libs of TikTok: Anti-ICE and pro-Hamas protesters have taken over the first floor of Trump Tower, chanting, “free Mahmoud, free them all” (X). Andy Ngo: Leftist rioters stormed Trump Tower in New York City to protest for a Palestinian who may be deported for his leadership with an extremist pro-Hamas and pro-terrorism group (X).

Leader Schumer Caves on Passage of the CR Bill
PJ Media: In a floor speech Thursday evening, Schumer admitted that he was left with no choice but to support the GOP’s measure, despite railing against it as “deeply partisan” and “a terrible option.” “For sure, the Republican bill is a terrible option. It is not a clean CR,” he complained. “It doesn’t address far too many of this country’s needs. But I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even more, even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option.” Schumer, who spent weeks attacking Republicans for allegedly following Trump’s lead, said the situation was a “Hobson’s choice,” meaning that there was no real alternative. “Either proceed with the bill before us or… risk Donald Trump throwing America into the chaos of a shutdown,” he declared. “This, in my view, is no choice at all.” That’s cute. Something tells me that Democrat polling showed that the public was going to blame the Democrats for the shutdown, and that’s what this is really about (PJ Media). Washington Examiner: Senate Republicans are expected to hold a procedural vote Friday on the GOP-crafted bill, known as a continuing resolution, to fund the government through the current fiscal year that ends Sept. 30. At least eight Democratic votes will be needed to advance the legislation to final passage, with Schumer’s vote giving cover to his Democratic colleagues (Washington Examiner).

New York Attorney General Letitia James Leads Lawsuit Against President Trump for Halving the Size of the Department of Education
Washington Examiner: A coalition of twenty-one Democratic attorneys general sued the Trump administration Thursday after the Department of Education cut nearly half of its workforce. The mass layoffs were “reckless and illegal” and will impede educational excellence across the country, according to the lawsuit led by New York Attorney General Letitia James that seeks to stop the Education Department from dismantling itself (Washington Examiner). CBS: The lawsuit, in Massachusetts federal court, claims the layoffs are unconstitutional and asks the court to halt the Trump administration’s effort to dismantle the department. President Trump has said he intends for Education Secretary Linda McMahon to be the last person to hold that job before shuttering the 45-year-old agency, which would require an act of Congress (CBS).

Columbia University Expels Anti-Israeli Students Who Forcibly Took Over Building
National Review: Columbia University announced Thursday it has expelled or suspended students who expressed anti-Israel sentiments while occupying a campus building last spring. The Ivy League school has also revoked the diplomas of some graduates. Columbia’s judicial board issued “multi-year suspensions, temporary degree revocations, and expulsions” related to the forcible takeover of Hamilton Hall, the New York university said in a campus-wide email. The number of punished students was not provided. The announcement comes as Columbia faces a fierce crackdown from the Trump administration over the elite school’s failure to protect Jewish students and punish those engaging in antisemitism on campus (National Review). Nick Sortor: Columbia University just announced they have expelled, suspended or revoked degrees from students who seized a building during an anti-Israel protest last year. ICE should get ahold of that list and deport the visa holders in that group (X).

Federal Judge Orders Trump Administration to Reinstate Thousands of Fired Federal Employees Across Six Agencies
ABC: A federal judge on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to reinstate thousands of probationary employees fired last month from a half dozen federal agencies. U.S. District Judge William Alsup ordered the Trump administration to reinstate employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the Department of Interior and the Department of Treasury. He also prohibited the Office of Personnel Management from issuing any guidance about whether employees can be terminated (ABC). Nick Sortor: Apparently the President is NO LONGER in control of the executive branch. Rogue judges are. INSANE (X).

Envoy Richard Grenell Confirms Venezuela to Continue Taking Back Illegal Immigrants in the United States
Presidential Envoy Richard Grenell: I am pleased to announce that Venezuela has agreed to resume flights to pick up their citizens who broke U.S. Immigration Laws and entered the U.S. illegally. The flights will resume Friday (X). Just the News: Venezuela ranked among the most common origin points for illegal immigrants during the Biden administration. President Donald Trump, while on campaign, routinely criticized Venezuela and other nations for allegedly emptying their prisons into the U.S. (Just the News).

Trump Administration Prepares to Utilize the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to Speed Up Removal of Foreign Criminals
Townhall: President Donald Trump is reportedly set to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to facilitate the mass deportations of illegal immigrants. The president repeatedly vowed to take such action on the campaign trail and after he was elected last year. Now, it appears the plan will be set in motion. During his second inaugural address, Trump declared that, “By invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, I will direct our government to use the full and immense power of federal and state law enforcement to eliminate the presence of all foreign gangs and criminal networks bringing devastating crime to U.S. soil, including our cities and inner cities” (Townhall). Alayna Treene: The announcement, which could be made as soon as tomorrow, will come in the form of a presidential proclamation. The move would likely pave the way for quicker removals of certain immigrants (X).

Putin Rejects Ceasefire Deal; Remains Open to Ending War Given Specific Concessions
Just the News: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday expressed openness to a ceasefire in the Ukraine War, provided such a ceasefire led to a permanent end to the conflict that addressed its root causes. “We agree with the propositions to stop hostilities. Let me proceed from the fact that such ceasefire should be such that would lead to permanent peace and remove the initial original causes of the crisis,” Putin said, as translated by state media outlet RT. To be clear, Putin did not commit to an immediate ceasefire and merely agreed to one in principle, should it include specific provisions. His remarks come as Trump envoy Steve Witkoff arrives in Moscow to deliver the terms of a ceasefire proposal negotiated between the U.S. and Ukraine (Just the News). National Review: Putin also declared that some questions still need to be hashed out before Russia agrees to a deal. Putin mentioned the small contingent of Ukrainian forces in the western Russian region of Kursk and whether Ukraine would receive arms shipment during the temporary cease-fire period. He insisted that Ukraine should not mobilize its forces or train soldiers during the cease-fire, without indicating whether Russia would do the same (National Review). Townhall: This comes as President Trump agreed to restart military aid to Ukraine while lifting the freeze on intelligence sharing with the nation (Townhall).

Germany Knew, Hid Information Stating Covid Likely Leaked from a Lab in China
David Strom: According to several German newspapers, the German Bundesnachrichtendienst, the foreign intelligence service, has known for five years that the COVID-19 virus was whipped up in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They assess that it is 80%-95% probable that the virus came from the lab. They are still hiding the documents because it contradicts the preferred Narrative that this was all natural and came from eating bats (HotAir). National Review: You might be wondering why you didn’t hear this intelligence analysis and conclusion from the German government until now. According to the German publication, the chancellor at the time, Angela Merkel, didn’t think the public had a right to know. Merkel denies the allegation. One can’t help but wonder if Merkel and the rest of the higher-ups in the German government were afraid to confront Germany’s largest trading partner about evidence that their reckless experimentation with making viruses more virulent and contagious had ended up killing more than 183,000 Germans. After all, BMW sales in China had just hit an all-time high (National Review)!

Trump Administration Asks Supreme Court to Review Birthright Citizenship Order
Just the News: The Trump administration on Thursday asked the Supreme Court to weigh in on parts of its plans to end birthright citizenship, by asking the court to narrow the injunctions that lower courts can use to block the president’s order. Multiple federal judges have recently blocked President Donald Trump’s order, including one judge who stated the order “conflicts with the plain language of the 14th Amendment,” and contradicts previous Supreme Court rulings. Trump signed the executive order, which would end the constitutional birthright to citizenship regardless of parents’ immigration status, on Inauguration Day (Just the News). Townhall: The idea of birthright citizenship comes from the 14th Amendment. As proponents of Trump’s executive order have argued, including in columns for Townhall, the framers of the amendment never intended for it to include citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants. The 1898 case of United States v. Wong Kim Ark also examined 14th Amendment rights for legal Chinese laborers (Townhall).
